Hi Parents,

I hope that you and your family are well.  Now that school is starting back up it is time to start Seminary again!  We will begin Seminary on March 30th using Canvas and lessons will now count as credit.  Here are a few things to know:

#1 – We have been using Canvas all year in Seminary so hopefully your child is familiar with the program.  To access our Seminary Canvas class, your child can go to silearn.churchofjesuschrist.org or use the Canvas app on their phone. They log in with their LDS username and password.

#2 – On the home page of the Canvas class is a link to the lesson schedule.  All your child needs to do is look to see what lesson is for that day and then click on the blue “Go to Lesson Modules Tab.” On Doctrinal Mastery days there will be a link next to the lesson that will take them to the Doctrinal Mastery material for that day.

#3 – When your child completes a lesson, they must return to the home page and click on the “Click Here to Report Your Completed Lesson” link.  If they do not do this, then we do not know they did a lesson and it will not be recorded!  Think of this step like handing in their assignment to their teacher.

#4 – If you have any trouble logging in to Canvas please contact me at lizzras@gmail.com or 817-739-0642.

#5 – Seminary will consist of students doing Canvas lessons Monday-Wednesday, with a Zoom meeting hosted by teachers on Thursday.  Participating in the Zoom meeting is optional and will count as attendance. If your child is unable to attend the Zoom meeting, they can do the Canvas lesson online.

We are hopeful that during this crazy time that we are living through Seminary can be a blessing in your child’s life as they have a daily opportunity to study the scriptures and learn from the words of the prophets.

If you have any concerns or need any accommodations for your child please don’t hesitate to contact me.  We are more than willing to do whatever we can to help!

Thanks,

Sister Rasmussen
